Free Veterans Art Classes
Joanie is teaching a couple free classes for Veterans this spring. One will be at her studio sometime in April (exact date TBD) in conjunction with the Sonoran Arts league. The other one will be held on March 11 and 12, at a Hobby Lobby store in Scottsdale - 9109 E. Indian Bend Rd. I have no idea where that is, but if you do, are a veteran, check out the info here!
Something else that Joanie's doing is asking a few other teachers to teach classes at her studio. The first guest is Pat Stacy who is offering an Acrylic Painting Class on Feb.18 & 19. Check out Pat's website to see her work or go by the Arizona Fine Art Expo in Scottsdale where she has booth 97. If you are interested in learning her style, talk to her at Expo or contact her by email at email@example.com for details.
The second artist is Nancy Kristy-Moore who will be teaching alcohol inks on tile. The class is on Feb. 23, from 1to 4 p.m., and the cost is $60. Send a check payable to Nancy Kristy-Moore to Joanie Wolter at 31550 N. 70th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85266. That enrolls you in the class. Nancy will supply all the necessary materials.
Darlene Saucedo is another fabulous artist who will be teaching a gourd class here later in the year. Her gourd work is spectacular and after the class is set up and organized, more information will be sent! Stay tuned!!!!!
Spring is always Joanie's busiest time of year, and this year is no different. Coming up on February 8, 9 & 10 is the Wuertz Gourd Festival at the Pinal Fairgrounds in Casa Grande. She won’t be teaching this year, but has gotten a bigger booth so she can demo in order to promote her classes and the beginners kits she has put together for those just starting out! Of course there are her DVD’s as well. Those will be available, and if anyone thinks they might want to learn to sculpt with Fiber Clay at a fraction of the cost of a class, you can always get a DVD and learn right at home!!!!!
In April Joanie will be traveling to Paso Robles again to participate in the Art in the Park show. Last year was a success, so she decided to try it again, along with a couple of her artist pals from the Sonoran Arts league, Marjie Risk and Marlene Sabatina.
Joanie and Charlie caught the attention of the local press in the North Scottsdale and Foothills areas. The following are links to several recent articles:
Joanie now has two Fiber Clay Sculpting instructional videos; one for creating figurative sculptures and the other to make bird sculptures. If you're interested click the link for details.
